This was my first assignment, with was very open ended. I decided to go with a collection of things that make me feel happy and free. I wanted to combine hand painted elements with collaged letters and accents, to give a feeling of meandering thoughts and feelings.
This book was inspired by a poem that we read in class. It was about realization and breaking out of a state of mind. I chose to make my book with no words, and simply bring the idea alive with pictures.
This book was about taking an element that was already made and interpreting it afterwards. I took a large sheet of paper and painted on it with watercolors and then india ink. I then cut up the paper and used that for the pages. I then went in with colored pencils and accented shapes and created a feeling that something is there, but you never quite get a good look at it.
